Presenting
Poster Presentations
There will be two poster sessions: one on Tuesday 15:40-18:00 and one on Thursday 15:40-18:00. Posters for Tuesday's poster session should be on display from Monday after lunch and should be removed at the latest before lunch on Wednesday. Posters for Thursday's poster session should be on display from Wednesday after lunch and should be removed before the closing session on Friday. The maximum poster size is 68 cm wide by 98 cm high (portrait orientation). Fasteners will be provided. Your poster session is posted on the programme page. The poster display area is next to the auditoriums in which the oral sessions will be held, and it will be available throughout the conference.
Oral Presentations
Oral presentations will be allocated 20 minutes, of which 15 minutes should be used for the presentation, allowing 5 minutes for discussion and a timely handover to the next presenter and swift change for the audience from one session to the other. Session chairs are to keep these strict timelines.
Presentation files need to be uploaded at the information desk or in the auditorium where you will present (shown here) by 08:45 for talks before lunch or by 12:45 for talks after lunch. If you wish to test your presentation on the PC, then it is best to plan to load it the day before your talk is scheduled to make sure there is enough time. Presentations can also be uploaded on Sunday during registration. For convenience please name the files with the format PresentingAuthorLastname_57Apapernumber (e.g. Stroeve_57A026).
Presentations will be given from a PC. If you used a Mac to create your presentation, you should convert it to a portable format, i.e. pdf, and make sure it runs on a PC beforehand. Alternatively you can use your own Mac laptop for your presentation, but be sure to have the adapter for connection to an external display.
Abstract submission is closed.
Each abstract will be assessed on its scientific quality and relevance to the symposium. Corresponding authors will be advised by 1 February 2010 regarding acceptance of their abstract.
A electronic booklet with the accepted abstracts will be provided to participants at registration. They will also be available before the conference on the internet, and it is preffered that those who want a printed copy print it before the symposium.
Thematic Publication
The Council of the IGS has decided to publish an Annals of Glaciology issue with a sea-ice theme. A first call for papers will be made in November 2009. A paper may be submitted for the issue regardless of whether the author participates in the symposium. Deadline for paper submission is 22 March 2010. All papers should be submitted through the IGS system and will be refereed according to the Society’s regular standards before a publication decision is made. Every effort will be made to have the reviews completed before the symposium so the associate editor and authors can discuss the necessary revisions during the week. Those submitting abstracts to the symposium will be asked to indicate whether they intend to submit a paper for the Annals volume, so reviewers may be sought in advance. Papers submitted for consideration in the Annals may not be submitted to another publication.
The instructions for authors can be found here.
The page charge policy for publishing in the Annals of Glaciology has not been decided yet but that information will be made available as soon as possible.
